Meet Alexus
Mother • Paralegal •
Human Rights Commissioner • Advocate
I’m Alexus Walker, a 32-year-old paralegal, human rights commissioner, and mother living in Lexington, Kentucky.
My journey into law didn’t start in a classroom; it started in a courtroom, when I had to fight for my children and navigate family court and CPS as a parent, not a professional.
What I experienced wasn’t justice.
The system was stacked against the very families who needed it the most. I didn’t give up; I chose to fight back for myself and for every family who has ever been silenced.
I enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University, earned my Associates then Bachelors degree in Paralegal Studies, and began working in the legal field.
Over the years, my legal work has included experience in civil, criminal, probate, estate, and family law. I also worked in a legal-medical partnership connected to the UK Markey Cancer Center, where I helped patients address legal issues related to health, housing, and stability. That experience showed me how deeply legal problems can affect a family’s well-being.
Today, I serve as a Human Rights Commissioner here in Lexington, advocating for fair treatment, equity, and protection for vulnerable communities.
I’m running for Mayor of Lexington because I’ve seen firsthand the root causes of our city’s challenges, including mental health crises, family court failures, homelessness, addiction, poverty, and systems that no longer serve the people.
I’m not a career politician.
I’m a fighter for families, for justice, and for the people who feel like the system forgot them.
